BREAKING: Police Arrest Over 100 Gay Suspects Holding Gay Wedding In Nigeria (DETAILS)

The Police in Delta State, located in the South-south region of Nigeria, have reported the arrest of “over a hundred gay suspects in a hotel engaged in a gay wedding ceremony.”

This disclosure was made by the police through their official Twitter account on Tuesday at approximately 9:06 a.m. They further mentioned that the suspects would be presented to the public shortly.

It’s important to note that homosexual relationships are prohibited by law in Nigeria.

The country’s anti-gay legislation, enacted in January 2014 during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, mandates a prison sentence of 14 years for individuals found guilty of engaging in same-sex activities.

Nigeria’s legal stance against homosexuality was tested for the first time in December 2019.

This occurred when 47 men, who had been apprehended by the police the previous year in a Lagos hotel for allegedly publicly displaying affection towards individuals of the same sex, were brought to court.

All 47 men pleaded not guilty and were subsequently granted bail. Eventually, a federal judge dismissed the charges against the men due to perceived inadequate prosecution efforts by the police.
