BREAKING: Popular Nollywood Actor Okemesi Passes Away
Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of comic actor, Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known as Okemesi.
According to Ireporter Online, the actor passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at about 11:50 a.m., after reportedly slipping into a coma for several hours due to complications arising from medications administered during an earlier hospital visit. Sources disclosed that prior to his death, efforts were made to secure proper medical care for him, but he was allegedly turned away from several health facilities, including government hospitals in Igodo.
The announcement of his passing was made in an emotional video shared on Instagram by fellow Nollywood actor, Jeff Owolewa, popularly known as Tony Montana. In the video, he disclosed that medical personnel officially pronounced Okemesi dead at exactly 11:50 a.m. He further revealed that the late actor’s remains have been deposited in a mortuary, with burial arrangements to be communicated at a later time.
Speaking on behalf of the Bamidele family, Jeff expressed deep sorrow over the loss and appreciated Nigerians who offered prayers and support during the actor’s health challenges. He prayed for the repose of Okemesi’s soul and thanked well-wishers who stood by him in his final days.
The news of Okemesi’s death has since sparked an outpouring of grief across the entertainment industry and among fans who remember him for his comedic roles and vibrant screen presence.
