BREAKING: Presidency Speaks On Current Tuition Fee In Federal Universities (DETAILS)

The Presidency has clarified that federal universities in Nigeria continue to be tuition-free. According to the presidential spokesman, Dele Alake, some universities have recently introduced “discretionary charges” for services like hostel accommodation, registration, and laboratory use, but these are not considered tuition fees.

Last week, certain tertiary institutions, including the University of Lagos (UNILAG), raised their fees for both new and returning undergraduate students, citing prevailing economic realities as the reason for the adjustment. UNILAG stated that it had not increased obligatory fees in recent years and sought understanding and support from students and stakeholders, ensuring a commitment to providing the best learning experience.
