Following community concerns about suspicious individuals in the area, local leaders petitioned authorities, prompting a joint military and police operation. Acting on solid intelligence, security forces launched an assault on the camp in the early hours of December 24, 2024. The operation resulted in the destruction of makeshift structures, the recovery of 19 unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and inflicted heavy injuries on fleeing criminals.

Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the success of the operation, stating that it was based on actionable intelligence gathered from recent arrests across the state. He also praised the collaboration between various security agencies involved in the raid.

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, commended the efforts of the security forces and the public for providing vital information. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation to ensure safety throughout the festive season. The Commissioner also urged hospitals to report any cases of bullet wounds promptly.

Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities to maintain peace and security in the state.
