BREAKING: ‘Some Of The Ballot Papers Whose Votes Were Cast In Favour Of APC Were Marked With Markers Instead Of Being Thumb Printed’ – Fresh Revelation Emerge From Tribunal

Yesterday, the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal admitted 150,656 ballot papers as evidence, which were used during the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Additionally, video evidence provided by Sunkanmi Oyejide, a key witness for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was also accepted by the tribunal.

These documents and evidence were presented to support the petition filed by the PDP and its governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu. The PDP and Adebutu are challenging the victory of Dapo Abiodun, the current state governor, citing alleged non-compliance with the Electoral Act and corrupt practices during the election.

The ballot papers were submitted to the tribunal by Reginald Nwoze, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police and forensic examiner. Lawyers representing the respondents objected to the admissibility of the ballot papers, but they reserved their grounds for objections for their final written addresses.

During cross-examination by counsel for the respondents, Nwoze revealed that he examined and analyzed the ballot papers from 12 local government areas of the state. He stated that among the ballot papers, 37,401 had multiple thumbprints, 3,470 were damaged or smeared, and 109,785 had regular thumbprints.

Nwoze also presented his findings, alleging that some of the ballot papers with votes cast in favor of the APC were marked with markers instead of being thumb printed.
