BREAKING: Tinubu Hosts State Governors At Aso Rock Amid Key National Talks

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday evening hosted state governors and other senior government officials at a Ramadan Iftar dinner held at the State House, Aso Rock, Abuja. The gathering represents the third consecutive year of the President’s annual tradition of bringing together political leaders and top functionaries to break the fast during the holy month.

The event attracted a wide array of dignitaries, including governors and deputy governors from across the federation, as well as key members of the Federal Executive Council. Governors observed at the Presidential Villa ahead of the dinner included Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, Usman Ododo of Kogi State, Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Mohammed Bago of Niger State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State. The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State was also in attendance.

Also present at the dinner were Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and several cabinet members.

According to Ireporter Online, the President has consistently used the annual Ramadan gathering as a platform to emphasise unity, national cohesion and the imperative of selfless service among public office holders. At the 2025 Iftar, he reportedly urged governors and ministers to prioritise the welfare of citizens, charging them to “do more for your people.” He further underscored the importance of national harmony, describing Nigeria as “one big family living under the same roof,” regardless of ethnic or religious differences.

Similarly, at the 2024 edition of the event, the President called on state governors to put aside political rivalries and focus squarely on governance, declaring that the era of politics had given way to the time for delivering tangible results.

The President is expected to host additional Iftar gatherings with senior government officials, traditional rulers and members of the diplomatic community as Ramadan continues.

In previous Ramadan observances, former President Muhammadu Buhari also convened similar fast-breaking events with leaders of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, party stalwarts and other key stakeholders.
