BREAKING: Tribunal Affirms Tinubu’s Election As President (DETAILS)
The Presidential Election Petitions Court, on Wednesday, upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Regarding the question of whether the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) acted correctly in declaring Tinubu as the duly elected President based on the majority of lawful votes cast in the February 25, 2023, election, the Tribunal concluded that the petitioners, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their candidate, Atiku Abubakar, failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate their claims on this ground or any other grounds in their petition.

Justice Haruna Tsammani, who led the five-member panel, stated, “This petition, accordingly, lacks merit. I affirm the return of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are to bear their own costs.”
The court also removed 37 exhibits that had been presented by the witnesses from the court’s records. Regarding the issue of document submission to the court, Justice Tsammani clarified that this would only affect the weight assigned to such evidence.
In addition, the Tribunal held, as it had previously, that the issues related to Tinubu’s conviction and his dual citizenship were inadmissible and therefore struck them out.
