BREAKING: Yakubu Is Dead

Just three days after being abducted, Alhaji Yakubu Bala, the Director of Works for Mariga Local Government Area in Niger State, has tragically lost his life at the hands of terrorists.

Reports indicate that Alhaji Bala, along with 23 others, was kidnapped from Mariga town over the weekend. The terrorists demanded a ransom of N50 million, which his family paid.

Hajia Hadiza Abdullahi, the sister of the deceased, revealed that the Director was in his residence with his two wives, one of whom was heavily pregnant, when the terrorists forcibly entered their home after one of the wives opened the door upon their arrival.

After the kidnapping, the family struggled to raise the demanded ransom, collecting contributions from relatives. However, despite their efforts, the bandits did not release Alhaji Bala.

It was only when some of the abducted individuals’ relatives were able to pool together N2 million each that they managed to secure the release of their family members from the forest where they were held captive.

Tragically, it was during this time that it was revealed that Alhaji Bala had been killed by the gunmen just two days after his abduction. The released victims disclosed that he had been tied to a tree, and the terrorists had brutally broken both of his legs before his demise. His body was reportedly buried in a shallow grave within the forest.

This devastating loss has left behind two wives and ten children, and the family is struggling to come to terms with his tragic death.

Despite attempts to contact the state Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun, there was no response at the time of reporting.
