Coup: ECOWAS Sets Conditions For Lifting Niger Sanctions
On Sunday, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) announced its decision to maintain sanctions on Niger’s military regime, which were imposed following a coup in July.

ECOWAS emphasized that progress in transitioning to civilian rule is essential before considering the easing of sanctions.
President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Touray, stated that a commission comprising representatives from Benin, Togo, and Sierra Leone would initiate discussions with the military rulers in Niger to determine the appropriate conditions for easing the sanctions.
