The arrests, spanning from January 31 to February 2, mark a decisive move by the police to curb criminal activities and bring the perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice, as confirmed by SP Odiko Macdon, the Police Public Relations Officer for Akwa Ibom State.

Notorious Serial Killer in Custody: Emem Ime Friday Alias “Barracks”

The police disclosed that Emem Ime Friday, alias “Barracks,” was apprehended on January 30 at about 2330hrs by the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command. The alleged serial murderer, hailing from Mbiaso village in Oruk Anam LGA, was the mastermind behind the Inen Clan Cult War. His criminal history includes orchestrating the gruesome murder of Inen Clan Youth President, Hezekiah Adaidem, in 2022, where he beheaded the victim and fled to Rivers State. Additionally, in 2020, he stands accused of murdering Ufot Unwana, Udeme Unwucha, Okon Ubok Udom, Ntiedo Sambo, Eferemfon James, and Gilbert Akpan.

Other High-Profile Arrests: Pastors’ Murder and Conspired Killing

The police statement detailed other arrests, including that of Emmanuel Francis Daniel, aged 33, who, along with accomplices, shot Pastor Emmanuel Jimmy Udoh, aged about 58, in the church premises. The incident occurred in Ika LGA, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Furthermore, Happiness Isaiah Ekanem and three others from Ikono L.G.A. were arrested for conspiring and killing Imo Isaiah Ekanem, aged 32, by beating him to death and clandestinely burying the corpse.
