In a powerful call to action, Iba Gani Ige Adams, the revered Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, has urged Yoruba leaders across the globe to unite and forge a common front. In a statement released by the Council, the gathering emphasized the need for Yoruba leaders, both in Nigeria and the Diaspora, to unite in ensuring the South-West region does not fall behind in the national agenda. The Council stressed the importance of establishing structures that promote lasting peace, a thriving economy, and effective governance within Yorubaland.

“The time has come for Yoruba leaders to collaborate on initiatives that will secure safety, economic prosperity, good governance, and food security across the region,” the statement declared. The Council also called for the active involvement of Yoruba intellectuals to devise strategies aimed at uplifting the community and eradicating poverty.

Highlighting the importance of preserving the Yoruba language and culture, the Council urged governors in the South-West to make the teaching of Yoruba mandatory in all secondary schools. Furthermore, they reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for Nigeria’s restructuring, stating that regional autonomy is the only viable solution for the nation’s growth.

The meeting, which saw strong participation from leaders in Nigeria and abroad, also expressed solidarity in defending the interests of the Yoruba race worldwide.
