Dangote Refinery to Launch Nationwide Petrol, Diesel Supply August 15
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has revealed that it will commence the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel starting August 15, 2025.
In a major logistical push, the company is deploying 4,000 brand-new trucks powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to enhance fuel delivery efficiency and accessibility across Nigeria.
According to a statement released on Sunday, the distribution offer is open to petrol marketers, filling station operators, manufacturers, telecom firms, aviation companies, and other bulk fuel users.
As part of its distribution strategy, Dangote also announced the rollout of “daughter” booster stations for CNG and a separate fleet of over 100 gas-powered tankers to further aid fuel movement.
The company emphasized that its free delivery logistics initiative is aimed at resolving fuel distribution bottlenecks, minimizing transportation costs, and boosting operational efficiencies across various sectors.
“This initiative marks a transformative step in Nigeria’s fuel logistics,” the statement read. “Starting August 15, we will deliver PMS and diesel at no logistics cost to marketers and large-scale users nationwide. This is part of our wider strategy to drive energy efficiency, support economic reforms, and promote sustainability.”
Aliko Dangote, the Group President, recently hinted at a nationwide overhaul of Nigeria’s fuel distribution sector—not merely through price adjustments but by reshaping downstream operations.
This announcement follows a visit by President Bola Tinubu to the $20 billion refinery located in Lekki, Lagos.
The fuel rollout comes at a critical time, as tanker drivers in Lagos have threatened to halt operations due to a ₦12,500 E-call-up fee imposed on trucks along the Lekki-Epe corridor.
To further incentivize uptake, the refinery is introducing a credit scheme for buyers purchasing 500,000 litres or more. The initiative is expected to revitalize dormant fuel stations, reduce inflation, empower small businesses, and align with the Tinubu administration’s economic revival plans.
