Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of Niger Delta Development, held meetings with former President Goodluck Jonathan and prominent Ijaw figure Asari Dokubo to seek counsel on addressing the issue of crude oil theft.

The Minister emphasized the urgency of implementing effective strategies to combat this problem, citing its detrimental impact on Nigeria’s oil production.

During the meeting at his Abuja residence, Momoh also sought the former President’s insights on infrastructural development and creating employment opportunities for the youth in the Niger Delta region.

Momoh expressed deep appreciation for Jonathan’s wisdom and generosity in sharing his knowledge, praising his dedication to enhancing Nigeria’s progress, particularly in the Niger Delta.

He also lauded the former President for his support and guidance in their collaborative efforts to tackle critical challenges and advance national development.

In a separate meeting with Asari Dokubo, the former Niger Delta agitator affirmed his commitment to supporting the Minister of Niger Delta Development in addressing the region’s infrastructural deficits.

Dokubo urged fellow Niger Deltans to rally behind the Minister to ensure successful outcomes and to thwart any attempts by adversaries seeking to obstruct the ministry’s development initiatives under Momoh’s leadership.

Furthermore, Dokubo called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure the return of an alleged N600 billion, misappropriated by the former Attorney General of the Federation, Mallam Abubakar Mallami, from the Ministry of Niger Delta Development. These funds were allegedly diverted to projects unrelated to the region, including the Second Niger Bridge and Lagos-Ibadan Express Way, without the former President’s knowledge.
