Edo State Commissioner Accused Of Concealing Doctors’ Payslips Amidst Claims Of Wage Increase
Benin City — The APC New Media Directorate has uncovered a new scandal involving Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, Edo State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science, and Technology. Isibor is reportedly involved in efforts to hide doctors’ payslips from public view, following allegations that the Edo State Government has been misleading the public about wage increases.
According to sources, Dr. Ovenseri, a respected medical doctor, had threatened to expose the discrepancies in the government’s claims that a ₦70,000 minimum wage was being paid to all workers. Despite these claims, evidence now shows that salaries for doctors and other workers have not been increased, revealing a disregard for the genuine needs of the state’s workforce.
The controversy highlights Governor Obaseki’s health sector reforms, which have been heavily promoted as significant achievements. Critics argue that these reforms are part of a broader pattern of deception by the Obaseki administration. The reforms, much like the governor’s numerous ineffective Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), have failed to deliver real benefits, instead enriching consultants and allies such as Asue Ighodalo, known for his involvement in numerous ineffective agreements.
This latest scandal is compounded by previous controversies involving Isibor, who was recently exposed in a leaked WhatsApp conversation where he reportedly encouraged a propaganda campaign against the opposition. This focus on spreading propaganda rather than achieving substantive progress reflects poorly on his tenure.
The situation is particularly concerning given the government’s claims of transparency and timely payment of workers. The attempt to conceal payslips raises questions about the administration’s commitment to accountability and its actual practices regarding worker compensation.
The APC asserts that these revelations are indicative of the ongoing failures within the Obaseki administration. With a pattern of misinformation and unmet promises, the APC calls for a change in leadership and a commitment to genuine reforms that will benefit the people of Edo State.
