Eid-el-Kabir: Akpabio, Barau, Abbas, APC Governors Urge Prayers, Unity Across Nigeria
According to Ireporter Online, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, several state governors, and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, have called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity, charity, and national renewal as Muslims across the country mark Eid-el-Kabir.
In separate Sallah goodwill messages, the political leaders emphasized that the celebration should serve as a reminder of the values of faith, obedience, compassion, and service to humanity, urging citizens to use the period for deep reflection and renewed commitment to national development.
Senate President Akpabio, in a message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred occasion that reflects Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and willingness to submit to the will of Almighty Allah. He stressed that the virtues of devotion, selflessness, and sacrifice are urgently needed to strengthen national unity and stability. Akpabio further called on Nigerians to pray for peace, security, and prosperity, while remembering troops on the frontlines, farmers, and the unity of the nation.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, also extended his felicitations to Muslims and Nigerians, urging them to sustain prayers for the country. He called for greater support for the less privileged and emphasized the importance of tolerance, justice, obedience, and charity as core values of the season.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, in his own message issued through his media aide, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, urged Muslims to deepen their commitment to charity, particularly towards the poor and vulnerable. He noted that Eid-el-Kabir symbolises total submission to Allah and offers important lessons in faith, obedience, and respect for constituted authority, calling on Nigerians to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity.
Similarly, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori called for peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence in their separate messages. They urged Nigerians to uphold the virtues of sacrifice, love, and compassion, with Okpebholo emphasizing reflection and collective efforts toward the development of Edo State and Nigeria, while Oborevwori encouraged prayers for national progress and stability.
In his message, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda described Eid-el-Kabir as a festival rooted in faith, obedience, and devotion. He noted that the lessons of sacrifice, patience, and unity are crucial to nation-building, urging Nigerians to promote peaceful coexistence across ethnic and religious lines.
