The lifeless body of the alleged thief was discovered suspended between two electric poles near a transformer by startled residents on the morning of January 29, 2024.

According to reports, the victim had successfully severed the cable beneath the transformer and had ascended the electric pole to cut the four lengthy cables connecting the transformer to the low tension wire. The risky endeavor tragically resulted in fatal electrocution.

Upon discovery, officials from the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) promptly arrived at the scene and removed the deceased’s body. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the perils associated with electrical theft, emphasizing the need for public awareness and preventive measures to curb such hazardous activities.
