In a statement on Tuesday, Enugu’s Commissioner for Education, Professor Ndubueze Mbah, condemned the video, calling it “disturbing” and “distressing.” Mbah emphasized the state’s zero-tolerance policy for bullying, abuse, and any form of degrading treatment in educational institutions, adding that the government is coordinating with the Federal Ministry of Education to enforce strict disciplinary measures against the students and any responsible school staff.

The commissioner assured parents and the public that student safety remains a priority, highlighting the significant investments made by Governor Peter Mbah’s administration to ensure secure learning environments. “The Enugu State Government will not tolerate bullying and abuse. Those responsible for physical assault will be prosecuted, as such behavior has no place in our schools,” the statement said.

The government also reminded educational institutions of their responsibility to uphold student safety, warning of serious consequences for any form of harassment, intimidation, or violence, which violate the values of respect, equality, and freedom in the school community.
