Clad in authentic military attire, the suspects’ reign of terror came to an abrupt end following a series of complaints from residents regarding weekly armed robberies along the Doma-Rukubi Road. Taking swift action, Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, deployed strategic measures to address the escalating menace.

“On Thursday, February 22, 2024, at about 1800 hours, police operatives from Ekye Division set a successful trap at Kwanar Kare, a notorious spot along the Doma-Rukubi Road, frequented by armed robbers,” disclosed DSP Ramhan Nansel, the command’s spokesperson.

In a dramatic turn of events, the duo of Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah, both hailing from Rugan Maigari, Rukubi village, were apprehended at the scene just as they were about to execute their nefarious plans. Upon their arrest, authorities recovered a substantial sum of N300,000, alongside a knife and other incriminating items.

Further investigations revealed the suspects’ involvement in a previous robbery where they relieved a victim, Mallam Barka, of N500,000 at the same location.

Expressing his commendation for the relentless efforts of his officers, Commissioner Nadada urged them to maintain the momentum in the fight against crime, assuring residents of continued safety and security measures.
