In a recent report released by the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria’s digital landscape showcases remarkable growth, with internet subscribers reaching a staggering 163.8 million as of December 2023. Last year alone, internet users surged from 154.8 million to the current figure, marking a 1.35% rise within the period under review. This upward trajectory underscores the nation’s growing digital connectivity amid evolving economic conditions.

For the fourth quarter of 2023, the NBS data reveals the top 10 states leading the charge in internet usage across Nigeria:

  1. Delta: 4.4 million internet users
  2. Katsina: 4.6 million internet users
  3. Adamawa: 5.4 million internet users
  4. Rivers: 5.6 million internet users
  5. FCT: 5.8 million internet users
  6. Kaduna: 7.4 million internet users
  7. Oyo: 8.4 million internet users
  8. Kano: 9 million internet users
  9. Ogun: 9.5 million internet users
  10. Lagos: 18.9 million internet users

Topping the list is Lagos State, emerging as the epicenter of internet activity in Nigeria with a staggering 18.9 million users. This comprehensive breakdown sheds light on the digital landscape, emphasizing the pivotal role of connectivity in driving socio-economic development across the country.
