Fresh Development As Party Demands Musawa’s Immediate Resignation As Minister
The Youth Party (YP) has called for the immediate resignation of Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, due to her alleged failure to meet the legal requirements for public office.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ayodele Adio, it was stated that the minister had compromised the integrity of her role by participating in partisan politics while serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Adio cited the case of MODIBO v. USMAN & Ors (2019) LPELR-59096 (SC) as a clear legal precedent on the matter.

According to Adio, the Supreme Court had ruled that engaging in full-time political activities while serving in the NYSC contradicts the National Youth Service Corps Act’s overall public policy. He expressed disappointment that Musawa had passed both the Department of State Services (DSS) and Senate screenings with such a “disturbing baggage.”
The Youth Party emphasized the importance of public officeholders fulfilling their responsibilities and adhering to their oath of office. It argued that holding partisan political appointments while serving in the NYSC is a breach of the law and violates the principles of the National Youth Service Corps Act.
The party warned that ignoring the law would set a dangerous precedent and raise moral questions.
