Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has revealed plans to revamp the N-Power scheme in order to accommodate more beneficiaries and expedite the payment of stipends.

She assured that the government would adjust the program’s modalities to address these issues and include more individuals while relaunching it with a renewed focus on providing hope.
Additionally, the ministry plans to establish humanitarian hubs in all 774 local government areas across the country as a long-term strategy to combat poverty in Nigeria. These hubs will offer locally produced commodities at affordable prices to the Nigerian population.
To ensure transparency and efficient distribution of relief materials, the ministry will deploy its staff to all local government areas for feedback collection and implement digital tracking of the palliatives. Independent monitors will also be engaged to oversee the delivery of relief materials to those in need.
Minister Edu reiterated her commitment to addressing poverty through initiatives like job creation, cash transfers to impoverished Nigerians, collaboration with the Nutrition Department, support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and stimulus packages for businesses. She assured Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu’s comprehensive economic interventions to meet both short-term and long-term needs, emphasizing trust in the process.
