Expose And Educate: Charles Inojie Defends Nollywood Movies Highlighting Societal Evils
Veteran Nollywood actor Charles Inojie has called on Nigerians to appreciate the film industry for shedding light on societal vices such as ritual killings, spiritual fortification, internet fraud, and organ harvesting rather than..Expose And Educate: Charles Inojie Defends Nollywood Movies Highlighting Societal Evils
criticizing it.
In a recent interview with ireporteronline Inojie emphasized that Nollywood should not be held responsible for the moral decay in society. He urged parents to prioritize instilling strong family values in the younger generation, teaching them the importance of hard work and the dangers of seeking quick solutions to life’s challenges.
The actor stated, “Can we, in all honesty, claim that all Nollywood movies revolve around rituals? These stories highlight real societal issues, such as ritual killings for political power, spiritual fortification, or organ harvesting, which undeniably exist in our community. Rather than condemning such films, we should commend them for their expository nature.”
He further cited real-life examples of unethical practices, such as pastors burying human remains for spiritual powers and influential figures engaging in rituals under the cover of darkness.
Inojie also criticized the culture of celebrating unexplained wealth, pointing out that some parents glorify their children’s sudden material success without questioning its source. He added, “Nollywood did not create these societal problems. The root lies in the erosion of family values. It is time to teach the younger generation the true meaning of dignity in labor and the catastrophic consequences of shortcuts.”
In conclusion, Inojie reiterated that Nollywood serves as a mirror to society and should be seen as a force for positive change rather than a scapegoat for the nation’s challenges.
