Family Fire Lit My Sound”—Rave Unveils Roots As He Prepares For December Album Drop

According to Ireporter Online, fast-rising Afrobeats singer Pwafukadi Sunday, widely known as Rave, has credited his family’s strong musical background as the driving force behind his career, noting that the genre’s future remains promising due to the creativity of young Nigerian talents.

Rave, who hails from Adamawa State and grew up in a family of eight, said music was a constant part of his childhood, especially as several of his siblings were active members of church musical groups. A statement from his media team revealed that this environment played a major role in shaping his passion for sound and performance.

He explained that being the last child in a household filled with music lovers made it inevitable for him to embrace the art, adding that Afrobeats is set for even greater global expansion. He said the genre’s sustained rise is driven by artists who are committed to pushing the culture across international borders.

Although he has been singing for more than a decade, Rave began releasing music officially three years ago, making his debut with the song “Jah.” He noted that his distinct voice, style, and melodies—especially the infusion of Arewa elements—give him a unique identity in the industry.

Rave is preparing to release his debut EP titled PWAFUKADI, a name drawn from his tribal identity and meaning “God has honoured him.” The nine-track project, scheduled for release on December 12, 2025, reflects his cultural roots, personal growth, and life experiences. He stated that the songs tell the story of his journey, offering listeners a vivid sense of the moments that shaped him.

The project features production from ShifuPro, Elmore, Stranger, Marius, and Keys To The City, whom he described as exceptionally skilled and easy to work with. Signed to Login Records, an Abuja-based label, Rave expressed his desire to collaborate with Asake, noting that the singer inspires him and reminds him of his own artistic energy. He also hopes to work with Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

Reflecting on his career, Rave emphasized the importance of character and humility, saying these traits often open doors beyond what talent alone can achieve. He further urged the government to increase its support for the entertainment sector through talent hunts and competitions that can help emerging artists gain visibility.

Rave began his education at Emmanuel Standard Academy in Yola before proceeding to St. Mary’s C.R.I., and later the Nigerian Army University in Biu. He eventually left the university in his third year to pursue music full-time.
