FG Announces New Minimum Wage Plan For Civil Servants

The Federal Government announced plans to implement an enhanced minimum wage package for civil servants by the second quarter of 2024.

Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, made the announcement at the 13th National Delegates’ Conference of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Abuja.

The former Anambra state governor stated that all necessary provisions had been put in place to make it a reality.

According to Ngige, plans have been put in place to review and implement a new minimum wage for Nigerian civil servants by May 2024.

He maintained that trade unions have no right to compel the federal government to make decisions.

Ngige, said the increment is to curb the effect of economic challenges posed by inflation on the country.
