According to the farmers, the fire broke out on February 6, 2024, around 11:30 am, causing extensive damage to their 15-hectare farmland filled with cocoa and palm trees. Despite their efforts to alert co-farm owners and contact firefighters, the lack of telecommunication network in the farm area hindered their attempts to control the fire.

Local methods such as using water, wet leaves, and dry sand to extinguish the fire proved futile as it spread rapidly due to the presence of dry vegetation and wood on the farmland.

Consequently, the affected farmers are appealing for support from both the state and federal governments to assist them in recovering from the incident and rebuilding their livelihoods.

Their plea highlights the critical need for government intervention to provide relief and assistance to farmers facing such unforeseen disasters, emphasizing the importance of robust support systems for agricultural communities.
