Foundation Collaborates With Lagos Food Bank To Provide Aid To 200 Families

According to reports, THX 22 Foundation, in collaboration with 22Bet and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, recently provided food support to 200 vulnerable families in the Ebutemetta community of Lagos. The initiative, part of the organizations’ corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed to alleviate the challenges faced by low-income households, widows, and retirees amid ongoing economic hardships.

Beneficiaries received food boxes containing essential items, including rice, garri, semolina, wheat, vegetable oil, and canned protein. Fikayo Ogunfuye, Country Director of 22Bet and THX 22 Foundation, explained that the outreach reflected the foundation’s longstanding commitment to giving back to society, particularly during the festive season. He noted that the organizations have been active in Nigeria for about five years, implementing community-focused interventions across multiple states.

Ogunfuye emphasized that the Lagos Food Bank Initiative was chosen as a partner due to its credibility and structured distribution process, ensuring relief items reached those most in need. Ebutemetta was selected following assessments that highlighted a high concentration of underprivileged residents, including widows and retirees, and plans are underway to expand the initiative to other areas in Lagos.

Dr. Michael Sunbola, Executive Director of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, described the partnership as an example of corporate responsibility in supporting vulnerable populations during challenging economic periods. He stated that while the outreach directly benefited 200 families, the impact extended to additional household members. Dr. Sunbola highlighted the food bank’s card-based registration and distribution system, which ensures an orderly process and prevents crowd-related issues.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely intervention. Hadijat Salau, a local trader affected by recent demolitions, described the support as a relief amid rising food prices and said the food items would be preserved for the Christmas period. Another beneficiary, widow Olubunmi Williams, noted that such initiatives had consistently aided residents in difficult times, emphasizing the importance of corporate-led humanitarian efforts in sustaining families affected by economic hardship and displacement.

Representatives from media organizations including Premium Times, The Guardian, Sun Newspaper, and the News Agency of Nigeria were present at the event. Organizers reiterated that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote community support, empowerment, and shared responsibility during the festive season.
