Good Leadership Matters: Support And Vote Ogbeide-Ihama For Edo South Senatorial District
Dear Edo South Senatorial District Delegates.
I bring you greetings, and I respectfully crave your indulgence to permit me to write you a bit lengthy but important note, as you get prepared to carry out a most dutiful assignment for our in few days to come. I have no doubt in my mind that you will do justice to the exercise as our party is known for.
Good Leadership Matters
As you all are aware, good leadership plays a major role in how far a people or nation go or stagnant they remain, as far as progress is concerned.
I don’t buy into the narrative that all leaders are the same. No, they are not. That is why we must put a lot into consideration in arriving at who makes the cut to be entrusted with the leadership of our people, at all times.
Are we satisfied now with how things are for our people, our children, our communities, our state and country? The people who we entrusted with the role of securing a future us all play a major role with what we end up seeing – good or bad.
In elementary science, we were told that every object will remain in a state of inertia until an external force is applied to it. I tell you the truth, every people, community, nation and state, will also remain in a state of ‘inertia’ (rest, stagnation, underdevelopment, etc) until the right mix of leadership come to its aid or rescue.
Until Joseph got involved in the affairs of leading Egyptian, the seven of plenty would have been wasted and nothing to depend on in the next seven years of famine. Until Moses was sent to lead his people, and was accepted, their bondage would have prolonged.
One of the hallmarks of great leaders, is their strong passion for their people.
Each time a people are challenged or under a threat, a great leader rise to the occasion to either quell the challenge or defend his people from challenges that could put them in threat or discomfort. No, they don’t get silenced or hidden in the crowd, they rise to the occasion. That’s one way to recognize a great leader.
Space will not permit to highlight some great leaders across the globe, who have left their indelible marks in the sand of time, but one major attribute they share in common is, passion for their people.
In Edo, I have seen a man who is passionate about his people as well and who is ever ready to go the extra mile to ensure that they get a fair deal all the time, and that they are not shortchanged, and accorded the respect they deserve.
That person is no one other than Rt. Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama.
Some people may not understand why he risked not being in the good books of the power that be, at the state level, rather, choosing to stand by the people and the constitution of the People Democratic Party (PDP) – just so that his fellow party members are not shortchanged.
While others were willing to sacrifice their people, with the expectation that a return ticket was guaranteed, he chose to risk as long as those he stands are not made to lose out.
I don’t know if you still call those who were willing to sacrifice their own people to be “consumed” by those who sort to take all from them as leaders, but I call them “selfders”
Now that elections are by the corner, it is time to show we are wise and know how to reward those who want the best for us.We are presented with an opportunity to support Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama to the Senate, because we know we can always count on him to stand for the people and serve them, come what may.
But the first step to achieving that lies in your hands, my most respected delegates.
I therefore, urge you to give us a man we can trust to continue doing what is expected of a leader, not one who will be quick to join those who don’t mean well for the people.
