Gov Otti Rewards Soldier Who Busted Abia’s Notorious Kidnap Kingpin ‘Osisikankwu

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has honoured a Nigerian Army personnel, Amoke Gunshot Simeon, for his role in the operation that led to the arrest of notorious kidnap kingpin, Obioma Nwankwo, in Aba.

According to Ireporter Online, the criminal figure, widely known as ‘Osisikankwu’, led a feared kidnapping syndicate that terrorised Aba and its environs between 2008 and 2010 before his eventual capture brought relief to residents. The report noted that Amoke played a crucial role in tracking and apprehending the gang leader, an effort widely credited with restoring relative peace in the area.

During a recent visit to the soldier at his country home in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Governor Otti pledged to sponsor him for medical treatment abroad as part of efforts to support his recovery and overall well-being.

Speaking with journalists after the visit, Amoke recounted his assignment in Abia, explaining that his team was specifically tasked with pursuing kidnappers and criminal elements to ensure public safety. He disclosed that during the operation, the notorious kingpin had allegedly offered him ₦50 million to allow his criminal activities continue, an offer he rejected.

He stated that his decision to remain committed to duty earned him recognition and the respect of the people, adding that integrity in service ultimately pays off.

Amoke further revealed that he later suffered a severe motor accident while on duty in the North-East, which left him with serious leg injuries. He expressed appreciation to Governor Otti for the support and commitment to facilitating his treatment abroad, noting that such gestures would encourage security personnel to remain dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.
