Popular Nigerian special effects artist, Onilogbo Hakeem, widely known as Hakeem Effect, has shared a remarkable account of how his journey into visual effects began, revealing that his skills were inspired through a series of dreams. According to Ireporter Online, the Nollywood figure explained during a recent podcast appearance that his abilities developed gradually after repeated dream encounters that guided him into mastering the craft.

Hakeem, who is regarded as one of the leading special effects experts in Nollywood, recounted an early experience in which a mysterious figure appeared to him in a dream, inviting him to follow and promising to elevate his talents to global recognition. He disclosed that the encounter prompted him to reflect on his abilities, noting that he initially identified drawing as his primary skill.

He further explained that his involvement in a church choir and later a drama group paved the way for him to explore special effects, despite having little understanding of the field at the time. The artist said clarity eventually came through another dream in which the same figure demonstrated how to execute special effects, guidance he later applied successfully in real life.

According to Ireporter Online, Hakeem also credited late Nollywood actor and filmmaker Murphy Afolabi for giving him the name “Hakeem Effect,” a title that has since become synonymous with his brand in the industry.
