As flames ravage through the school located at Awolowo Street next to the Kobiowu Mosque in Tanke, Ilorin South LGA of Kwara State, the once bustling corridors now stand charred and desolate.

Witnesses recount the harrowing incident, which unfolded after 6:00 pm on Sunday, as the inferno swiftly consumed nine classrooms within the expansive 14-room building.

Rapid response efforts by the Kwara State Fire Service were mobilized, with firefighters battling the blaze amidst the chaos. However, their valiant efforts could only salvage a portion of the school premises.

According to Hassan Adekunle, spokesperson for the Kwara State Fire Service, the fire’s origin is traced to a deliberate act of arson, with flames igniting from undergrowth nearby before engulfing the school structure in a relentless blaze.

In a somber statement, Adekunle revealed the grim aftermath: “Tragically, the fire had already ravaged nine out of the 14 classrooms, leaving a significant portion of the school in ruins.”

Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, issued a stern reminder of the importance of safety measures, urging the public to exercise caution in their daily activities.
