Rotimi explained that the delay is to provide committees with ample time to finalize budget discussions and defenses with ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

“The postponement is necessary to enable committees to conclude ongoing budget engagements and defenses with MDAs. This approach ensures a thorough and comprehensive legislative process,” the statement read.

An internal memorandum from the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, under the directive of House Leadership, formally communicated the new resumption date to members.

Hon. Rotimi reiterated the House’s dedication to its legislative duties, emphasizing that this decision is in the interest of Nigerians.

“The House remains committed to fulfilling its legislative mandate for the benefit of Nigerians and appreciates the understanding of all stakeholders,” he added.

The ongoing budget engagements involve crucial deliberations with MDAs to develop an effective fiscal plan for 2025. Stakeholders have been urged to remain patient and supportive of the legislative process.
