This action was taken because Akpulonu, a former majority leader of the Assembly, had been granting media interviews concerning the Assembly’s affairs.

The suspension, which will last for 14 sitting days, was prompted by the ongoing crisis in the House following the Speaker’s appointment of Hon. Uchenna Okoro from the minority Labour Party as the majority leader.
