According to sources, DSS operatives detained the women while they were believed to be transporting the ammunition to bandits in Kontagora Town, Niger State. The suspects were found in possession of 1,000 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition.

This arrest comes just five days after troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) discovered a gun manufacturing facility in Kafanchan, located in the Jema’a Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna.

The revelation followed a week-long intelligence operation that led to the apprehension of a wanted gunrunner named Napoleon John, who had been on the wanted list of OPSH. John confessed to the crime and guided troops to a hidden factory where weapons of various calibers were being produced and sold by another individual named Monday Dunia. Dunia admitted to engaging in this illicit business for over five years, exacerbating the crisis in Southern Kaduna and neighboring Plateau State.

A thorough search of the facility resulted in the recovery of 22 different weapons, including 7 pistols, 2 locally crafted AK-47 rifles, 2 military-grade AK-47 rifles, and 9 revolvers.
