South African rapper Nasty C has opened up on why he decided to quit alcohol after years of heavy drinking. According to Ireporter Online, the 28-year-old star admitted that he had become accustomed to consuming alcohol almost daily—whether at the studio, during performances, or while hanging out with friends.

In a candid conversation with British-Nigerian media personality Madame Joyce, Nasty C revealed that what started as a casual habit eventually turned into an addiction that left him constantly surrounded by bottles of vodka, whisky, tequila, rum, and cognac.

The rapper explained that although he had developed a high tolerance for alcohol, he came to realize how dangerous that was, as it made it difficult to recognize when things were spiraling out of control.

What finally pushed him to give up drinking was the fear of premature aging. He noted that in South Africa, there is a common expression known as “phuza face,” which refers to the rapid aging effect linked to excessive drinking, where individuals often appear years older than their actual age.

For Nasty C, the thought of developing a “phuza face” was enough motivation to completely turn his back on alcohol and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
