JUST IN: Buhari Gives Oba Of Benin Fresh Appointment

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), has appointed Oba Ewuare II of Benin as the fourth Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano.

The President, who was represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof Abubakar Rasheed, performed the installation on Saturday at the university’s 36th and 37th combined convocation, where 16,581 students received various degrees.

“There is no doubt that Bayero University is indeed lucky to have the Oba as its chancellor. He is a man of great experience and a seasoned diplomat,” Buhari said. “I officially congratulate His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, on your well-deserved appointment as the Chancellor of Bayero University.

While congratulating the monarch Oba on his appointment as chancellor and the award of a Doctor of Law degree (Honoris Causa) by the university, Buhari stated that the monarch was deserving of the honor.
