The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has dismissed as “false” reports that its over 30,000 members would close their filling stations.

According to Mike Osatuyi, National Controller Operations, IPMAN, who spoke on Tuesday, the memo to members issued by the Chairman, IPMAN Borno chapter, Mohammed Kuluwa, earlier on Tuesday, asking all IPMAN members in the state to suspend services was a mistake.

“Fake news. Bad eggs and sabotage,” Osatuyi said.

When contacted, Elder Chinedu Okonkwo, National President of IPMAN, stated that Kuluwa should not have issued the statement attributed to him.

“He should not have issued the statement. In fact, he has retracted it,” Okonkwo said.
