Trafficking Awareness Day, Mr. Emmanuel Awhen, the State Zonal Coordinator of NAPTIP, revealed that over 60 convictions have been secured with more than 15 cases still pending in court.

Awhen emphasized that many arrests were made, though not all were related to human trafficking. For cases involving serious allegations like organ harvesting, referrals are made to the originating states where justice is pursued.

The agency also highlighted concerns about the involvement of clinics and hospitals in the state in the illegal organ harvesting trade, despite their legitimate practices.

Ambassador Peace Edem, Coordinator of the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour, stressed the importance of community sensitization against human trafficking and its associated dangers, including physical, emotional, and psychological harm.

Mrs. Eno Akpan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, lauded the collaboration between NAPTIP and NACTAL in combating human trafficking, while acknowledging the efforts of Governor Umo Eno in establishing initiatives to improve human dignity.
