Kwara APC Endorses Bola Ahmed Tinubu For 2027 Re-Election Bid
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State has declared its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, while also endorsing the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, as its preferred governorship candidate.
According to Ireporter Online, the endorsement was made during a political rally held on Friday at Ansar-ud-Deen ‘A’ LGEA School in Ijagbo, which drew party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across the council area.
Speaking at the event, the Oyun Local Government Chairman, Akanbi Olanrewaju, said the decision to back President Tinubu for a second term was driven by confidence in his leadership style and commitment to national development. He noted that the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda aligns with the aspirations of party members and Nigerians at large, stressing the need for continuity in governance.
The party also unanimously endorsed Yakubu Danladi-Salihu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 Kwara State governorship election, with leaders describing the move as part of efforts to promote equity, fairness, and inclusiveness within the state’s political structure.
The council chairman further highlighted the longstanding call for power rotation among Kwara State’s senatorial districts, noting that Kwara North has yet to produce a governor since the return to democratic rule in 1999. He argued that a shift in power would strengthen unity and give all regions a stronger sense of belonging.
He maintained that Kwara North possesses capable and experienced individuals who can effectively lead the state if given the opportunity, adding that political inclusiveness remains key to sustainable development and cohesion.
The APC chairman also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as transformative leadership, stating that his administration has laid a strong foundation for growth and development in the state. He added that the endorsement of Danladi-Salihu was aimed at sustaining the achievements of the current government.
The rally ended with renewed calls for unity within the party as stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections.
