Lagos Lights Up As ‘Still Here’ Makes Grand Premiere

According to Ireporter Online, author, pastor and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Verbatim Communications Limited, Bidemi-Mark Mordi, has premiered her faith-based short film titled ‘Still Here’ in Lagos, receiving positive reactions from viewers who praised its storyline, production quality and emotional depth.

The private screening, held on Sunday, July 19, attracted a select audience who gave the film an encouraging reception, describing it as a compelling production with a meaningful message.

The less-than-30-minute film features a four-member cast and presents a contemporary interpretation of the biblical story of Leah, the often-overlooked wife who faced rejection but remained resilient and committed despite her challenges.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the project, Mordi revealed that the story was adapted from her book ‘Camou: The Thing Behind the Veil’, which explores the lives and experiences of 16 women in the Bible.

She explained that Leah’s story stood out as a natural choice when she decided to produce her first short film, noting that the book had been published for more than four years before the movie project began.

The author, who has written 30 books, said the purpose of ‘Still Here’ extends beyond entertainment, as she aims to use storytelling as a tool to communicate faith, values and important life lessons.

According to Mordi, stories have the power to reveal deeper meanings and help people connect with messages that remain relevant in modern society. She added that the film represents another avenue through which the gospel can be shared.

Addressing the decision to cast relatively unknown actors, Mordi explained that the focus was not on celebrity recognition but on the strength of the message and the acting abilities of the performers.

She noted that choosing talented actors who could effectively portray the story was more important than relying on popular names, as fame could sometimes distract audiences from the central message of a production.

Mordi maintained that ‘Still Here’ represents her personal contribution to spreading positive values and inspiring audiences through creative storytelling.
