Major Bust: So-Safe Corps Uncovers ₦9.8 Million Stolen Transformer Cable Scheme, Three Arrested!

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, has apprehended three individuals involved in purchasing stolen transformer armoured cables valued at ₦9.8 million. The suspects were captured in OPIC Estate, Agbara.

The arrested individuals are Mansirina Usman, 27, Janadu Ahyarn, 20, and Husseni Abdullahi, 20.

In a statement released on Sunday by the State Commander, Soji Ganzallo, through Corps Spokesman Moruf Yusuf, it was revealed that the So-Safe Corps received information about the theft of transformer armoured cables worth ₦9.8 million.

The arrest followed a tip-off indicating that these stolen cables were being sold in the area. Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to purchasing the cables from two individuals, Mustapha and Minister, who remain at large.

The statement detailed that the suspects were apprehended on June 27, 2024, around 7:13 PM. Usman had bought 30kg of cables for ₦300,000, Ahyarn acquired 25kg for ₦250,000, and Abdullahi purchased 20kg for ₦200,000.

The recovered items from the suspects included four off-cut armoured cables, ₦18,850 in cash, three Android phones, two wristwatches, and two unmarked TVS motorcycles.

Commander Soji Ganzallo noted that the suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Agbara Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Ganzallo highlighted that this operation underscores the Corps’ dedication to combating criminal activities in the state.
