Naira Under Pressure? See Dollar Exchange Rate Today – March 26, 2026
The exchange rate between the United States dollar and the Nigerian naira at the parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market, remained a key point of interest for traders and individuals seeking foreign exchange on March 25, 2026. According to market sources, including Bureau De Change operators, the dollar was traded at a selling rate of ₦1,410 and a buying rate of ₦1,398 in Lagos.
Reports indicate that these figures reflect the prevailing conditions within the informal foreign exchange market, where rates are largely determined by demand and supply dynamics. Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) continues to maintain its stance against the recognition of the parallel market, reiterating that individuals and businesses requiring foreign exchange should conduct their transactions through authorized financial institutions.
Data from official channels show that within the regulated market, the naira traded between a high of ₦1,391 and a low of ₦1,376 against the dollar. However, analysts note that discrepancies often exist between the official and parallel market rates due to varying liquidity levels and market forces.
Observers further emphasize that foreign exchange rates may fluctuate across different locations and dealers, meaning the actual rates at which individuals buy or sell may differ slightly from published figures.
