In a similar incident in February, Pastor Uche Aigbe of House on the Rock Church in Abuja sparked controversy when he mounted the pulpit carrying an AK-47 rifle during a Sunday service.

He claimed he was illustrating a message about defending faith with spiritual weapons. However, the action received condemnation, and Pastor Aigbe was detained. House on the Rock Church later clarified that Pastor Aigbe’s actions were regrettable and did not reflect the church’s stance on violence, emphasizing their commitment to peace and cooperation with authorities.
