According to Ireporter Online, veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Solomon Akiyesi has passed away, with reports confirming that he died in his sleep on Sunday. The announcement was made on Monday by Abubakar Yakubu, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, who disclosed that the actor reportedly went to bed and did not wake up. He further stated that Akiyesi’s remains have been deposited in a morgue in Abuja, where the incident occurred, while the guild awaits further information from his family to clarify the circumstances surrounding his death.

Akiyesi, who hailed from Ososo in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, began his acting career in the late 1990s and went on to establish himself as a prominent figure in Nollywood. Over the years, he featured in more than 100 films, earning recognition for his versatility and contribution to the growth of the Nigerian film industry. His notable works include Marry Who You Love, Kiss My Pain, Joy of Nakasha, Heart of a Saint, Deadly Affair, Gen Z Wife, Olaedo The Fisher Girl, Pretty Liars, The End Is Near, and Desperate Ladies.

Following the news of his passing, tributes have poured in from fans and colleagues across social media, many of whom have expressed shock and sadness while celebrating his legacy and impact on Nollywood. His death comes just weeks after the passing of another veteran actor, Davis Offor, popularly known for his role as Clarus in the classic sitcom The New Masquerade, further deepening the sense of loss within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
