“Nottingham Forest Axes Ange Postecoglou After Just 39 Days In Charge”
According to Ireporter Online, Nottingham Forest have dismissed Australian manager Ange Postecoglou after just 39 days in charge, following a 3–0 defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.
Postecoglou, who was appointed on September 9, endured a turbulent spell at the club, failing to secure a single win during his brief tenure. His eight-game stint across all competitions produced only two draws and six defeats, marking one of the shortest managerial reigns in Premier League history.
In a brief announcement, the club stated: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that, following a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”
Hired with the expectation of steadying the team after a poor start to the season, Postecoglou struggled to find a winning formula. Forest managed just one point from five league fixtures under his guidance, leaving them hovering dangerously in 17th place — a single point above the relegation zone.
His tenure was marred by persistent defensive errors and a lack of attacking flair. Forest conceded 10 goals from set pieces during his short reign, the highest in the Premier League over that period, and allowed 16 goals within the first 10 minutes of second halves while managing to score only once in five league outings.
Defeats against Arsenal, Sunderland, Newcastle United, and Chelsea, coupled with draws against Burnley and Real Betis, left the club’s hierarchy with little confidence in his ability to turn things around. The former Tottenham Hotspur boss departs with an unwanted record — becoming the first Nottingham Forest manager to fail to win any of his first eight matches in charge.
