NYSC DG Announces Planned Raise for Corps Members Following New Minimum Wage Approval
Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has announced that corps members will soon see an increase in their monthly stipend. This pledge comes in the wake of the federal government’s recent approval of a new minimum wage for civil servants, set to be implemented shortly.
During his visits to the Kebbi State Orientation Camp in Dakingari and the Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko, General Ahmed addressed the corps members, commending their dedication and contributions to Nigeria’s development. He encouraged them to view their service year as a valuable opportunity for personal and professional growth.
General Ahmed highlighted the importance of the NYSC’s focus on vocational skills and entrepreneurship. He believes that these areas will help corps members gain independence and foster an entrepreneurial mindset, preparing them for future success.
With the recent agreement between the federal government and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) establishing a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for federal employees, corps members are eagerly anticipating an increase in their allowances. This upcoming adjustment is expected to significantly boost morale among the serving corps members, who are keenly awaiting further details.
