Obaze Fires Back At Morka: ‘This Is Beyond Free Speech, It’s A Threat
Oseloka Obaze, who served as Secretary to the Anambra State Government under Peter Obi’s administration, has strongly condemned Felix Morka’s comments…Obaze Fires Back At Morka: ‘This Is Beyond Free Speech, It’s A Threat
directed at Obi.
Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), called Obi an irrational individual in his response to Obi’s State of the Nation address on New Year’s Day. Obi had criticized the economic hardships in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s policies, urging the president to abandon any plans to increase taxes and to address critical issues like food insecurity and banditry.
In his counter-remarks, Morka dismissed Obi’s address as misleading, claiming the economy was experiencing significant progress across various sectors. He suggested that Obi should focus on managing his personal affairs.
Reacting to Morka’s comments, Obaze stated that the language used by the APC spokesman bordered on an implicit and explicit threat, emphasizing that such statements must be held accountable in case of any consequences. He highlighted that free speech has limits, drawing a line between free speech and hate speech or threats.
Obaze further stressed that while a messenger should not be told how to deliver their message, anyone making such statements must bear responsibility for the potential consequences of their words.
