Okpebholo Names Igbo Community Leader As Edo Commissioner

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the nomination of businessman and politician, Martin Anayochukwu Oli, as a commissioner-designate in the state, in a move that underscores his administration’s push for inclusivity and broader participation in governance.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued to Ireporter Online by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, on Wednesday, confirming that the nominee’s name would be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and subsequent confirmation.

According to the statement, Oli, who hails from Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, is a well-established businessman and politician recognized for his contributions to community service and grassroots development. It further noted that he has played active roles in initiatives aimed at driving social and economic progress, earning him recognition as a leading figure within the Igbo community in Edo State.

The statement also highlighted that through his engagements in both business and politics, Oli has consistently supported development-focused initiatives while demonstrating leadership capacity within the private sector.

It added that the nomination reflects the Okpebholo administration’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and the integration of diverse talents in governance, regardless of ethnic background.

The government emphasized that it remains dedicated to leveraging the expertise of individuals committed to Edo State’s development, while stressing that the nominee’s confirmation remains subject to approval by the state House of Assembly.
