Oshiofire: Oshiomhole’s Plea For Abuja-Benin Express Road Receives Praise
In a remarkable display of determination and concern for the welfare of Nigerians, Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, representing Edo North senatorial district, captivated the Senate with his impassioned plea to address the dire condition of the Abuja-Benin Express Road.
His call for immediate remedial measures has garnered positive reactions from Nigerians across the nation.
During his passionate address on the Senate floor, Oshiomhole shed light on the alarming state of the road that has left certain portions perilously damaged and crumbling. He emphasized the significance of this critical route, which has suffered neglect since its construction in 2012 during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
Highlighting the exorbitant sum of over 200 billion naira invested in the road since its contract award, Oshiomhole denounced the lack of tangible progress.
He also highlighted the fact that former President Buhari had recently approved an additional 75 billion naira specifically allocated for the repair of the road, particularly from Obajana in Kogi state to Benin City.
However, despite this allocation, the necessary repairs are yet to be executed. The senator expressed deep concern over the situation, emphasizing how heavy-duty trucks remained immobile for days, leading to significant hardships for local communities, farmers, and the overall socio-economic stability of the country.
Nigerians from various walks of life have commended Senator Oshiomhole’s intervention, recognizing it as a beacon of hope in the face of the road’s distressing state. Here are two accounts of Nigerians who have expressed their support for Oshiomhole’s efforts:
Chinedu Okonkwo, a resident of Edo State, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “Finally, someone is championing the cause of the Abuja-Benin Express Road. Senator Oshiomhole’s unwavering commitment and plea in the Senate have reignited our hope for a better future. We believe his strong advocacy will propel the government to take swift action and alleviate the hardships we endure daily due to this dilapidated road.”
Aisha Abdullahi, a businesswoman heavily reliant on transportation, commended Oshiomhole’s determination, stating, “Senator Oshiomhole’s courageous stance on the Abuja-Benin Express Road deserves our commendation. As a business owner, the deplorable state of this vital route has caused immense losses and disruptions. His intervention has given us confidence that the government will prioritize our well-being and undertake the necessary repairs, fostering economic growth and prosperity.”
As Nigerians rally behind Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s efforts, hopes are high that his plea will spur the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to take immediate remedial measures using the funds allocated by former President Buhari’s administration.
The commendation from citizens demonstrates the significance of addressing critical infrastructure challenges to foster a better future for all Nigerians.
