Oshiomhole Criticizes Obaseki And Wife For Being Childless, Claims They Don’t Love Children

The former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has taken a controversial jab at the current Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his wife, Betsy Obaseki, insinuating that their lack of children reflects a lack of love for children.

This statement was made during an interview with selected journalists, which was later uploaded by Television Continental (TVC) on its X handle on Sunday.

Oshiomhole’s remarks came as a response to an alleged comment made by Betsy Obaseki, who reportedly claimed that the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, was the only contender without a wife in the upcoming election.

In the interview, Oshiomhole criticized the Obasekis, highlighting their childlessness and accusing them of not adopting children because they allegedly “do not love children.”

He stated, “I was shocked yesterday to see Mrs. Obaseki, the first lady, saying that our candidate has no wife. She is the most, I’m sorry that she has to say that, because here is a woman who has no child. Between her and Obaseki, they have no child; they are childless. They are even not ready to adopt. I mean, I don’t blame anyone who does not have a child. But people who have love for children, they go to motherless homes and adopt children.”

Oshiomhole continued, “They have not adopted, they are both in their 60s. So you married, I don’t know whether it’s a contract or whatever it is, but they have no child.”

He contrasted this with the APC candidate, Okpebholo, stating that his wife and children have been actively involved in the campaign across the state. “Our candidate not only has children, but he has also invested in their education. You watch them on live television, where the first one that spoke is a lawyer, the second one is a medical doctor, and they had addressed the crowd in Edo South, Edo Central, and Edo North, with their mother present,” he added.
