Osun APC Shrugs Off Aregbesola Supporters Exit Calls It Good Riddance

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the departure of the Omoluabi Progressives, a group loyal to former governor Rauf Aregbesola, saying their exit poses no concern to the party…READ MORE…

In a statement released on Monday in Osogbo, the Osun APC spokesperson, Mr. Kola Olabisi, said the Omoluabi Progressives had already distanced themselves from the party since 2022. He noted that many members of the group had been suspended or expelled for actions deemed counterproductive to the party’s interests, labeling them “agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

“The announcement by the so-called Omoluabi Progressives to leave the APC is nothing more than good riddance to bad rubbish,” Olabisi remarked. “How can someone who has been expelled or suspended from the party now announce their resignation? It’s superfluous and irrational.”

Criticism of Omoluabi Progressives

Olabisi described the group’s actions as hypocritical, accusing them of undermining the APC while covertly serving the PDP. He argued that their departure marked the end of their attempts to destabilize the party, noting their efforts to hijack the party had failed.

“You cannot claim to belong to our party while actively working against its interests. The Omoluabi Progressives have been a thorn in the APC’s side, but their exit brings relief and clarity to our fold,” Olabisi said.

Olabisi further stated that the APC remains strong and united, adding that the departure of Aregbesola’s supporters signals the “political funeral” of the dissident group. He predicted their final defeat in the 2026 Osun governorship election.

“To the Omoluabi Progressives, this marks the beginning of the end. Your blindfolded followers will come to regret their involvement in this charade,” he warned.

Reiterating the party’s resilience, Olabisi dismissed any concerns about the group’s departure, asserting that the APC is growing stronger and will not miss their disruptive influence.
